1. First of all, throw away every item of clothing that you own, start from scratch, it will just be easier that way.

2. Make of list of every unconventional phase one could have and explore each phase twice (think: growing armpit hair/Annie Hall or French Japanese).

3. Spend way more time trying to figure out how to get out of work than it would take to actually do the work.

4. Perfect manipulation, it will pay off in a big way.

5. It's always about you, don't ever get confused about that.

6. Shorten every word you can, if it’s already shortened, add a, “y” or an, “sies” (i.e. "Duhsies" or "WORK DRINKSIES!")

7. Get over things, before you get into them, if possible.

8. Be drunk as much as humanly possible – don’t EVER question this one.

9. Be nice to people’s faces, it makes them feel important and funny.

10. ALWAYS compliment things you hate, it draws attention to them and makes other people notice how ugly they are too.

I've had some ideas lately. Then some things happened.

Should I start writing a new blog called, "Photos of my boyfriend sleeping?" It's just that I have so many photo of R. sleeping, I feel like they need to be on the Internet. #creepy?

I was going to start a blog on which I post only photos of myself taken in my apartment evaluator. Because the blogging world is desperately in need of such things.

This dying-for-a-book-deal Twitter psycho started following me.

It's either amazing or horrible. I mean it's basically just this guy following and retweeting self obsessed white girls. I wonder who tipped him off on me?

I got carded and have spoken about nothing else since.

I might have attended my work Christmas party, hugged my boss' boss twice and may have told her that I loved her. Maybe.

It was a Gangsters & Flappers theme, I thought it was a dress as Alexa Chung theme.

I also went to a Mad Hatter themed birthday party which I coincidentally also thought had an Alexa Chung dress up theme. Rodney made me wear his hat for 5 seconds, not impressed.

Oh and I finally switched from a BlackBerry to an iPhone which I was pretty happy about until I saw this photo:

Celebrate your new Hermès scarf with dinner at a Chinatown foodcourt (I mean after putting it on, circling the office 14 times and forcing your Saire Support to take 1000 photos of you on both your and his phone. I mean why wouldn't your subordinate want a thousand photos of you in your new Hermès pretending to be Anna Wintour with unwashed hair!?!?! DUH new wallpaper for his phone AND PC!).

Thursday:
Drive to the Hunter Valley with your besties.

Taste, buy and drink copious amounts of wine.

Stalk Dolly Parton, judge the locals and make a list the all flavours of gelato you would eat if you were a different type of person (I would start with red bean move on to persimmon and finish with salted caramel...I mean not that I've given it any thought or anything).

EAT CHEESE

Visit the local (but don't stick around too long because THIS IS NOT THE KIND OF PLACE WHERE PEOPLE YOU KNOW HANG OUT).

Friday:
Beers and cheers

Watch your friends be all in love or whatever. No, I mean it's cute. I'm not even jealous that I'm not skinnier than either of the Kates (Moss and Middleton) or wearing a wedding dress right now.

Focus ALL of your attention on looking like Alexa Chung (duh).

Don't stand next to your friends for too many pictures-they are way too pretty and put together (e.g. You don't need any help looking less put together - duh).

Don't forget to check your Twitter like every 3 minutes, I mean your 52 follows are probs DYING for an update.

Stop taking photos when things are about to get weird/silly/out of control. There are states in which NO ONE needs to see you.

Saturday & Sunday: drive home, go to IKEA, watch your boyfriend eat 3 $1.50 hotdogs, fall asleep watching, "Last of the Mohicans", eat two dinners and call it a week.

Did I mention that I might have created a position at work which I refer to as, "Saire Support" (SS)? It's kind of like a PA crossed with some sort of entertainment role. SS's duties include but are not limited to: tea and low fat cottage cheese runs, fashion advice, being pretty but trying not to be prettier than me (just kidding, not really but maybe), sending me photos of Alexa that I've never seen (this one is hard), providing me with office gossip, making me laugh and giving me compliments.

There are other things too. Like the time I assigned SS to list and email me their top 10 favourite smells. Here is what I received:

American in America: Part II

After Michigan my mom and I took a road trip to an Avurveda health spa in middle of Iowa. I mean the MIDDLE OF IOWA. Like the window outside our hotel room halfway there looked like this:

HALF WAY! Did I mention we drove? My mom ate like 3 carrots over the course of the entire 15 hour drive.

Other things we saw:
A lot of flagpoles (why are there flagpoles everywhere in America?), small towns with cute buildings and lots of corn fields.

Upon arriving at the spa, we met with a, "doctor" that took our pulses and designed a food plan, suggested treatments, prescribed medicine (Vital lady or Worry Free pills anyone?) and tea for us.

Did I mention that all the food was organic, vegan and unprocessed? And and no cold drinks-ever. THAT MEANS NO WHEAT THINS OR COKE ZERO PEOPLE!!!!! I KNOW WHAAAAT! Oh and bedtime was 10PM.

We also attended cooking classes as if anyone chooses to eat non-processed food by choice.

Oh and in addition to all that, the doctor suggested caster oil and daily enemas!

I don't know about you but when I'm on holiday, I draw the line at daily enema but that's just me.

So after a full week of detox and relaxation (I know me relaxed-whaaa??? But I was, I was super chilled), we left Iowa and I made my way to D.C. for a week of retoxing with my bestie. I mean Coke Zezo and I missed on another and had to make up for lost time (never leave me again, all types of sugar free, ice cold, caffeinated beverages!)

My mom totally drank the kool-aid by the way. Think meditation rooms (I mean full rooms IN HER OWN ROOM dedicated to meditating) and full weeks (PLURAL - WEEKSSSSS) of eating nothing but lentils.

SO bestie and I took a babes only road trip to see wild horses (!!!!), smart sailors and the inside of a dinosaur's belly.

We also drank bloody mary's, discussed every item of clothing, accessory and shoe either of us ever wanted or didn't want to purchase, ate Twizzlers for breakfast (lunch and dinner) AND had matching airbrushed shirts made at the Maryland shore.

Have I mentioned my fascination with taking photos of brides whom I've never met? Creeeeeeppyyyyy.

We are totally serious about these shirts the way.

American in America Part I

Did I mention that I took a little holiday?

I'm stuck in my room with a GlamGlow mask (Google it, buy it, live it, love it) and praying (to the Gods of beauty duh) that my roommate will leave the house for a minute so I can wash it off before it becomes so hard that it cements to my face.

In the mean time, let me tell you about my holiday.

It was BAH-NA-NAS (I've been watching a lot of, "The Rachel Zoe Project", can you tell?)

FIRSTLY, my Grandmother's 90th birthday party was a great excuse to wear my Erdem Fides silk gown (it's always a good day when you have an excuse Erdem). My Grandma was beautiful and hilarious as always. I mean I have never been anywhere with my Grandmother and she not be the best dressed/funniest lady in the room.

Oh wait, I totally forgot about our stop in LA and the embarrassing photos Rodney and I took of one another.

Yes I am one of those travelers. You know, the pretentious yoga engaging in the terminal type.

Did I mention that Rodney and I went a little cuh-razy with food?

We also did vactiony stuff. Ya know, like swimming, visiting friends, silly manicures, seeking out the stuffed animal couple version of us and buying baby boxes of wine (Sav Blanc duhsies).

So after LA we headed to Michigan for the party and did I mention that I wore Erdem?

In Michigan we did Michigan stuff like boating (fishing was suggested but seriously, do I look like someone who engages in physical activity for purposes other than ensuring I fit into my size eight jeans!?!?), nail art (because nail art is an activity that's fun knows no bounds) and friendly catch ups.

I missed summer in Michigan.

What's a Dinner Amongst Frienemies?

Drink wine, lots of wine..I mean bottles. Like don't even try to go into this dinner unless you are 9 glasses deep into a case of Verdehlo.

Eat nothing but celery for like 2 weeks before the dinner.

Facebook stalk their most hideous photos, it will give you an edge, I promise.

What to expect:
Round 1: Polite insults disguised as questions (usually prepared prior to the dinner):
"Oh wow..look at you! That dress! Did you come straight from the beach?"
"Oh so you're wearing your eye liner like that now?"
"Really, not married yet?"
"I thought you were growing your hair out?"
"Did you ask your stylist to do that?"
"We have some time, did you want to change your outfit before we go out for drinks?"
"So I know that I haven't seen you in 4 years but why did you get divorced?" (actual question asked amongst frienemies in my presence).

Round 2: Polite insults not as carefully disguised (2 bottles in):
"I didn't even know that you could still buy that lip stick in that colour!"
"I thought you joined a gym."

1. There is no better motivation than watching fashion week whilst running on the treadmill.

2. Work out as hard as you can and then when you get out of the gym, never catch the bus from the closest bus stop. The extra 5 minutes of walking will do you good!

3. If you are over 25 and there are people studying at your gym, find another gym.

4. Invest in some cute yoga pants, believe me, looking cute helps you kill it.

5. Were thongs (flip flops) in the shower, please don't tell me I have to explain why.

6. Break a sweat-a real sweat, a really real sweat.

7. Judge people, it helps pass the time .

8. Make a million cheesy workout playlists on your iPod and don't feel guilty at all.

9. You know when it's Saturday and you pretend that you don't have a job? When you're at the gym, get serious about pretending that working out is your job.

10. Just so you know, if you eat cake on the same day as a workout, the workout doesn't count. I mean hit the gym anyways but don't feel super proud of yourself or anything.

I write a lot of training/process documents in my current role. Many of the documents require real world examples (think story problems).

Remember sitting the MEAP/SAT/HSC exam and spending entirely too much time wondering where the character names used in the test questions originated? Were they the test writer's daughters, wives, high school sweethearts?

All of my document examples use versions of my Grandmother's name. Sometimes it's, "Mrs Black" other times I use "Florence" or, "Ms Browe". I've used, "Flora", "Flo", "Florrie" and "Flossie".

I love that I can find a way to fit my Grandmother into my life and the lives around me as much as possible. I love that my Grandmother is teaching and popping up in people's lives that have never met her on the other side of the world. I love that I constantly have my Grandmother in my thoughts, fingers, Intranet and on the lips of my colleagues to remind me to use her generosity, kindness and fastidiousness in each of life's moments.

Once in a while I let myself get depressed over silly things. Like when I try on cheap clothing. Once I get depressed I get stuck. Stuck in a circle of reasons to feel sorry for myself:

When I am not lying to myself, I am at least 5 kgs over my ideal weight (white girl problems)
I can't buy Wheat Thins anywhere in Australia (fat girl problems)
I can't have a dog at my flat (inner child problems)
Only a few books have e-rights for Kindle use in Australia (nerd problems)
I still don't have a hair stylist or dentist in the city (more white girl problems)

Then I feel it sweep into me and me into it like reaching a strawberry field on a mid July road trip. I remember:

Halloween in the City

Things to do on Halloween in the city:

Eat Halloween themed Krispy Kremes at the office (and lollies by the bowlful at 9AM).

Dress up as a ballerina (a replica of the costume you wore when you were six) because your Edie earrings are still packed away from the move.

Attend a party in an art space/studio/nearly abandoned decaying apartment building in Surry Hills and watch a band that sounds like The Velvet Underground.

Feel way under dressed amongst the 18 year old hipster girls dressed as puritans (how was this not on my 2010 possible Halloween costume list?!?)

Leave the party, harass Spanish backpackers, take photos with a couple of ladies, get turned away at Charlie Chan's, watch nearly naked girls parade through the city in the name of Halloween and ride a bus home full of grim reapers, witches and Indiana Joneses.

A few months ago I created a mental wish list of places to eat in the city #fatgirlhobbies. At the top of my list was The Golden Century. Rodney and I finally made there on Friday night.

Daddy Ip and friends laughed at R. when he ordered black bean beef. They said it was, "totally a typical dish to be ordered by an Australian born Chinese boy" or however that sounds in Cantonese.

I ate a dish called, Buddha's Garden. Have you ever had bamboo hearts? Are you a fat girl too? Add this dish to your list.

It was a bit of a feast.

After dinner and dessert (warm peanut soup, cake, fried dough and oranges) we took a walk through the Chinatown markets and Rodney fell in love with this. Apparently, simply by being present in his home office will assist him in, "working better". Whatevs dude, it's on order.

Next on the list: Mother Chu's Taiwanese Gourmet Restaurant in Haymarket.

P.S. Since the list was created, R. and I have never eaten so well.

Any pals have a free weekend? Make your way to Camperdown for a sleepover!

We'll skate up to Newtown for a shop and a cola. Don't worry, I'm not suggesting that we stand on one of those death traps, I'm more into walking slowly so if I see super cute Chinese twin babies, I have time to wave.

We'll stay in and I'll make veggie burgers.

Or we could hit up the Korean BBQ Buffet. We'll discuss ideal Halloween costumes (likes: orphan Annie dislikes: The Jersey Shore cast members). All this whilst Rodney eats 3 plates of sushi, Korean style fried chicken and ddukbokki. Don't trip, this boy is getting his money's worth!

We'll eat too but we won't get crazy, we're swinging by 85 degrees for Mango green tea after lunch.

Are you into video games? Rodney's got the hot tip on all the coolest arcades in the city. Lots of research time as a kid.

Things you might learn about my mother if you went on holiday with her.

1. She's crazy beautiful.

2. Her obsession with maps is growing at an alarming rate.

3. She's SO organized. Want to be lazier than usual and have everyone organize EVERYTHING for you? Take a holiday with my mother, she is the champion of planning!

4. When asked she tells people that she's, "not political" (it's a thing, a doubleU-aye-ess-pee-why thing) but secretly she has O-PIN-IONS! I'm won't share any because she is probably already way too embarrassed.

5. She has a crush on Pharrell Williams. We had Hungarian MTV in Budapest and we saw the new HOT-N-FUN video (is it new? It might old, I just haven't seen MTV in a while) and she big shared her feeelings. I get it.

6. She will only entertain the idea of eating super thin biscuits cookies/chocolate/candy/sweets. Don't even try to suggest that she try any sweet that is thicker than a 50 cent piece, this is crazy talk in her mind. I mean don't even bring it up.

7. She's out of control healthy.

My mom's plate is the one on the top, mine is below. This is pretty accurate portrayal of our eating habits. By the way, we got the amazing vegan food above at Country Life, eat there twice if you're ever in Prague, you won't regret it or at least we didn't.

8. Despite the national language of any given country she may be visiting, my mom likes to speak German to anyone and everyone. In Budapest, I kept telling her that they speak Hungarian and in Prague I suggested she try speaking Czech which she would always acknowledge and immediately follow with "Danke!" Maybe that's why when she ordered crepes in Prague got this:

9. She's a grammar snob, I mean big time. She corrects everyone's grammar (not to their face duh) even children under the age of 5 whom speak English as their second language. Don't be paranoid, she's really nice about it.

10. She hilarious, I mean really funny. Remember that summer when you had so much fun and your stomach constantly hurt because you were laughing so hard...remember that? You might have been near a lake or playing euchre or running through sprinklers. There could have been a camp fire nearby. That's her.

I could go on all day but I won't because it's getting late and I have to catch the 7:03AM train.

Everybody knows that coming back from holiday is the worst. Here are a few reasons to hate it a little less.

1. Catching up all the TV programming which aired whilst on holiday. I mean an afternoon full of, "Mad Men" & "Jersey Shore"!?! Yes and YES!

2. Eating your favourite cereal out of the box.

3. Giving your besties the perfect presents that you brought home for them. I mean you put a lot of thought into them so know your lovelies will love them.

4. Spending/wasting way too much time searching Wikipedia for everything you saw/heard/learned/watched whilst on holiday (think everything from the designer of Bebelplatz Memorial (Micha Ullman duh) to the various existential meaning theories on, "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" also the highly important: in which prints I can order the Lesportsac Frieda Bag (and would this purchase be a mistake?)

5. Sleeping in my own bed BIG duh I mean even BIG doy (remember, 'doy'? Is that even how you spell it? I mean does a word made up by early 90's teenagers even have a correct spelling?!? P.S. Not a rhetorical question, I'd actually like an answer please.)

6. iChat with R. [he's still doing his thing in LA (eating oreos for breakfast and getting matching haircuts with his bros) and I'm going craycray without him - craycray like I'm waking up at all sorts of random hours of the night to catch a glimpse of his cute face on iChat and you KNOW I'm not that motivated].

7. Rewatching the entire, "Party Down" series because you think you may have forgotten how funny it is over the last 3 weeks plus you watched some cheesey teen movie with Jane Lynch on the flight home and her funniness has not escaped you.

That's it, I mean considering the topic, I think my list quite is generous.

Remember when, "Ally McBeal" was on TV? Remember that episode about personal theme songs?

I have dream/wish/life pursuit about mine. I wish I was a good singer or at least had stage presence so I could spend each weekend performing, "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy". I would spend each Saturday morning perfecting a stage routine full of Freddy Mercury-like costumes and make-up. And at night, my performances be so good that each performance would end in tears. I might start a following or a movement..maybe even a cult.

Until then I'll keep on waiting until Rodney goes out, turn up the stereo and practice.

Fun facts:

I ran into someone who is not getting married or helping plan a friend's upcoming wedding..she was just, "hanging out at the wedding expo".

I want to buy a wedding dress just to compete in the, "Bride of the Year" pageant. Each bride involved paraded around in their respective dress whilst the presenter shared the details of their special day. I could totally make up a crazy interesting wedding story whilst promenading around the entertainment centre. I wonder if one must show proof of marriage to enter.

If you are ever me and want to feel extra manlike (not possible according to R., apparently, I'm already manlier than anyone ever could be) and hideous, visit the Wollongong wedding expo. It's pretty much Girlville, USA, I mean in Australia or whatever.

Things that Rodney and I have been doing lately.

1. Yum cha, duh.

2. Snacking on Italian food. Sometimes (like once a year) we eat something other than Asian cuisine, it's usually a mistake, that night, it wasn't.

3. Pedicures, sentimental beanies* and Vietnamese for breakfast.

*Rodney misplaced his beanie the other day and kind of had what you might call, "spaz". He ran around the flat, frantically searching for the $2 beanie, all whilst advising me that it had some sort of, "sentimental value". I asked him to explain the sentiment and he replied, "My old beanie was stolen so I bought a new one." A) who on Earth would want Rodney's old beanie? I mean he spent the better part of last year without letting a drop of shampoo touch his head and b) Now all of sudden buying something for $2 at Cheap Dollar makes it sentimental? Exactly. Now you know what kind of crazy I'm dealing with.

4. Getting fat. Did I really need to include this point based on 1-3?

5. Picking out potential birthday gifts for Rodney.

Totally scared he was serious.

6. Attending work trivia nights. I knew about 3 out of 400 answers asked and that's including the questions that Rodney answered correctly. Whatevs, it was fun .

7. Japanese buffet for Rodney's birthday lunch.

The girls next to us ate so much (like 10 plates so much) that I think one fell asleep at the table and by, "think", I mean that I could almost hear her snoring.

Last night, we attended Peter and Eva's wedding.

Rodney took photos and I took photos of him.

The reception was at the Canterbury Club.

Rodney's new white daddy and grandparents are lovely but I'm not sure they got my humour. They are geuninely nice/goodhearted people and so I feel sorry subjecting them to my evilness all night. And by "evilness" I mean pure hilarity! I'm totally already in the will.

My high school dream came true, I had the cutest date at the party! Take that all you formerly popular now kind of/very chubby mini van driving, hagged out mean girls (I've totally let go)!

Sometimes it's okay to indulge but only once in a great while (see sometimes foods). P.S. If you're going to have a cheat day at the Canterbury Club, go for Yum Cha, it's crazy amazing.

Did I mention that Rodney asked when the bouquet was going to thrown, adding that he wanted to catch it? Eva ended up gifting me the bouquet mentioning, "This is for you, since you'll be the next one to get married". I didn't correct her, I didn't want to ruin her wedding day.

We ate, danced and were very merry.

When I was just a little girl in Kindergarten, I desperately wanted to have a cast on my arm so that I could have all of my friends sign it. I shared my life long dream with my mother and she explained to me that really I didn't want to break my arm because it would hurt quite badly. She also added in heaven, anything is possible so I should wait until the afterlife to obtain a painless cast/have all my unattainable wishes come true. I mean I think that's what she told me, it was a long time ago. It's sweet, right? It kind of gave me an idea for a list. So if I did believe in the afterlife/heaven (which I don't AND if I did, I'm not sure I'd be going there mostly because my common parting phrase is, "See you in hell!") here are the movies that I would like to star in and why (does any of this make sense to you?).

1. The Outsiders

Duh and here's why: I love a cute nickname (i.e. Ponyboy, Sodapop, Two-bit); I would kill to look like Diane Lane and wear a poodle skirt/sweater set everyday plus Rodney would make a super cute addition to a greaser gang.

2. Dirty Dancing

Duh part II: the music, the dancing, again the wardrobe, THE CATSKILLS, Jerry Orbach plus I love that baby's face takes the journey from quite ordinary to gorge by film's end (being nice makes you pretty!).

3. Gidget

Kitschy phrases, super adorable haircuts and a 60's surf gang, yes yes YES!

4. Back to the Beach

Who has more fun than Annette Funicello!?!?

5. Little Darlings

Summer camp in the 80's! Dreams do come true! Just make sure I get to play Tatum's character.

6. Sixteen Candles

I just want Molly Ringwald's hair.

7. Newsies

If I had 3,000 wishes, one would be to have the wardrobe of a newsie, it's kind of dressing like an authentic Annie Hall.

8. Dazed & Confused

I mean, I'm pretty sure this is me anyways.

9. Reality Bites

Do I need to explain this one? I mean really? I'm a sucker for super genius slackers (i.e. Wai Wing Ip). Plus sometimes or all the time, I'm a little pretentious (is this a surprise?)

Let's all make some promises to one another:

1. No more stuffed animal baby backpacks. Seriously, haven't we discussed this like 5 trillion times, let it go puh-lease!

2. Stop waiting 4 months before hair touch ups...does this need further explanation?

3. Let's all be nice to one another! It's nice to be nice! Let's buy the world a coke too!

4. No more fake nails please. They're gross and only for strippers.

5. Grammar check before posting anything on facebook, it's the law.

6. Pay it forward and shiz.

7. Doughnuts are not an everyday food, neither are chips and gravy. I know you're sad but you knew this even if you weren't ready to read it.

8. Maybe let's think a lot before we tattoo things on our bodies. I mean, I love tattoos but getting one is a serious decision and should be treated like one.

9. Let's joke around, it's fun!

10. No matter how tempted you might be, let's agree, plastic jewelry is never a good idea (p.s. you should probably be concerned if you are tempted by plastic jewelry).

11. Let's try to remember that generally, people's intentions are good. It's true!
